Why this chapter
The driver is responsible for the car being in a safe condition – not the workshop. This chapter walks you through what you should be able to check yourself before driving: tyres and tread depth, lights, brakes, fluids and mirrors, and what the periodic inspection actually is. It is also the foundation for the safety check on the practical test.
